New Half-Marathon Event!

The City of La Crosse Parks and Recreation Department is excited to present the NEW Festival Foods Grandad Half Marathon. Formerly the Festival Foods La Crosse Fitness Festival, this event will feature a half marathon course which better highlights the fabulous scenery and must-see landmarks of the Coulee Region. The new course starts atop Grandad Bluff, 600 feet above La Crosse, and finishes along the scenic Mississippi River in Riverside Park. Festival Foods Grandad Half Marathon will continue the popular events from previous years, including the Three Rivers 5K Run/Walk, Riverside Youth Races, La Crosse Omnium, and the Coulee Region Bike Tours. Changed from 2012, both the half marathon and 5K will be held on Saturday, May 4th and finish with a celebration in Riverside Park.

The 2013 event will continue to benefit the same great charities including the St. Clare Health Mission, the Youth Enrichment Association (Y.E.A), and Special Recreation of La Crosse. These changes will further the event’s growth and reputation as well as provide a fun, community event for the La Crosse area.

Registration for running events and bike tours will open November 1, 2012. For more information or to register for any of the events, please visit www.LaCrosseFitnessFestival.com. Updates to the website are in progress.

Important Update Regarding the Status of the Marathon

We know some of you really enjoyed the marathon (and so did we!) but with the small number of participants, and community inconvenience of road closures, it became a necessary decision for us to cancel the event. Our overall goal is to put on a successful event with multiple activities for the La Crosse community that focuses on healthy lifestyles and to ultimately raise money for our charities. We want all of our participants to have a great experience and with the awesome new half marathon route we hope you consider taking in the breathtaking views atop Grandad Bluff and running along the Mississippi River to participate in the Festival Foods Grandad Half Marathon!

Registration opens November 1st, 2012 for The 2013 Grandad Half Marathon!

Registration for the 2013 Grandad half marathon opens up on November 1st, 2012.  Keep checking back here for more details coming soon!
