The La Crosse Fitness Festival is a non-profit event, donating all proceeds to local charities in the La Crosse area. The Festival is extending the charitable aspect to the Soles 4 Souls campaign. Soles 4 Souls was created in 2005 and is based out of Nashville, TN. The charity collects shoes from the warehouses of footwear companies and individuals, to distribute to those in need. In the past five years, Soles4Souls has given away nearly 13 million pairs of new or gently warn shoes (equivalent to one pair every 7 seconds) in 125 countries. The La Crosse Fitness Festival is going to have a collection bin at the Health and Fitness Expo in the La Crosse Center, Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30. Collection bins will also be available Saturday, April 30th in Riverside Park and Sunday, May 1st at the start of the Full & Half Marathon and Marathon Relay in Pettibone Park and at the finish line in Myrick Park. A $1 donation for every pair of shoes is requested, in order to mail the donated shoes to the distribution centers. For more information on the Soles4Souls campaign, visit their website at: www.soles4souls.org “Changing the world, one pair at a time.”
